DisplayPort delivers on the digital era’s promise of simplicity: simple connectors, plug-and-play set up with external devices, and streamlined form factor for new all digital desktop monitors. DisplayPort’s USB-sized connector secures without thumb screws and its thin cable can reach projectors up to 15 meters away. DisplayPort enables native fiber optic cabling as well, eliminating the need for wall powered boxes at each end of the fiber cable. All digital Direct Drive monitors connected with DisplayPort require no adjustment. Because DisplayPort allows a direct connection between the graphics and the LCD panel, it eliminates the need for additional electronics in the monitor, enabling thin and sleek direct-drive digital monitor designs. Future enhancements to DisplayPort that are underway include a higher speed auxiliary channel for supporting multifunction monitors over a single cable, and the capability to enable multiple monitors to be hooked up through a single connector.
